Scripture: "This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him." John 9:3
Today I was introduced to a new word "prevailing prayers". I've been in places when it seems like God is silent, I was get frustrated because what I prayed for did not happen. Worst of all I did not learn the lesson God wanted me to learn, and the same situation is recycled in my life, because I didn't get it right the first time. Mark Batterson put it like this "So instead of ten or twenty years of experience, we have one year of experience repeated ten or twenty times." Or as my friend/sister Shanna Neal would often remind me "No do overs". She use to say "Berta, you can go through this God's way, or you can keep on experiencing this over and over until you get it right. God is in control." I now know to ask God to give me grace to sustain, the strength to stand firm, and the willpower to endure. I have learned to pray through.
"Sometimes God delivers us from our problems; sometimes God delivers us through our problems."

I can really relate to today's reading. As I wait on the promise, I've learned to also enter His rest. I think it isn't always one or the other, it can be both/and. Don't get me wrong there are times where I'm crying for deliverance where I'm blinded to see where He's working. But mostly I see and declare His promise that He declared over the circumstance and I rest in His love and faithfulness. Delay doesn't mean No, simply means not yet.

I like those words, prevail or prevailing. Some of the root meanings are: to be stronger, beyond, to be strong. Some Webster definitions are: 1. to be greater in influence or strength; TRIUMPH; prevailed over many adverse conditions. . .2. to be or become effective; WIN OUT; . . 3. to be most frequent or common; PREDOMINATE. Synonyms for prevailing are: CURRENT, PREVALENT, REGNANT, RIFE, WIDESPREAD
This chapter certainly changes the perspective from me to HIM. God is definitely in control. Our perspective to His greatness, omnipotence, omniscience, and loving kindness certainly turns our hearts and eyes upward. We are a time driven society. Me have time lines for everything and when life situations don't fit our time lines well we think God or we have failed. How silly! This is a reminder that His grace is more than sufficient. His love is eternal. I want to live a life, well lived, instead of repeated until I get it right.
There is a song that has these words: "We will prevail. No matter what it looks like." Some other words from this song are: "It might look one way right now, but I've got eternity in mind." We are called to walk by faith. We are called to be the Prevailing Church. We are moving from ASAP (as soon as possible) prayers to ALAT (as long as it takes) prayer.

We need to be the prevailing church as we "wait upon the Lord and be of good courage..."
