Scripture: "Lord teach us to pray" Luke 11:1
In my opinion and in my experience this quote sums up the whole 40-Day Prayer Challenge. "If we change the way we pray, everything changes. It changes the way we work, the way we parent, the way we lead. It changes they way we prioritize and strategize. It changes the way we think, the way we feel, and the way we speak. Prayer changes everything from the inside out."
As I was reading and rereading this paragraph my souls was rejoicing at the truths that lie within. I became reflective on how God has prioritized my life during the process to becoming prayer director. What is even more thought provoking is how He had already prepared me to live this type of life style. God opened up doors for me to go to school after I had the blessed bonus baby (Tria). I've often thought about God's timing and am amazed, but in reflection, He was teaching me to pull away from things that got in the way of my studies. After I earned my bachelors degree God opened a door for me to get my masters degree. It was a lonely time, I lost contact with friends during this time, and never seemed to have time to pick them up again. Five years after getting my masters degree in Special Education, I was back in school getting my masters reading. (with no student debt) My education was a God idea. The discipline that was required to get my education is the discipline I now use as a leader. My students are always asking me if I watch Scandal, do I watch Empire, etc. when I say no, that I don't have time for TV they are always amazed. But in reality I do not have time for TV...Don't get me wrong, there are a few shows that I like, but very very few and I only watch them on the weekend or once a month. God has rewired me. Some night I am up late in the evening or rise early to study prayer, or search the internet for strategies of prayer or listen to a YouTube video on prayer. "If we change the way we pray, everything changes."
Mark had a few one liners that speak to our need for prayer. "The first objective of prayer is praying about what to pray about." "It does matter what you do, prayer is the key to your business, your practice, your career." "Don't just brainstorm, prayerstorm." "Prayer is the difference between appointments and divine appointments." "Prayer is the difference a good idea and a God-idea." "Prayer is the difference between closed doors and opened doors."
My faith has been renewed and I am encouraged to continue to pray and ask God what to pray about. When God gave me these ideas for prayer I did not know that Pastor Dan would end up with a sermon series about prayer. I am thrilled to see answered prayer at RCC, the prayer team has been praying, "miracles, signs and wonders". RCC is becoming a House of Prayer; we had sixty people in prayer on yesterday! People have been getting healed and on last night during the Night of Worship sponsored by the dance ministry people got healed. RCC is a buzz with the works of the Holy Spirit I am encouraged to continue to prayerstorm, and watch God move.
I Departing Thought: Prayer is the difference between the best that we can do and the best that God can do.
