Scripture: "Do not despise these small beginnings." Zechariah 4:10
If you were to talk to most leaders I'm sure you would hear some type of complaint about hosting some kind of event or meeting and very few people show us. I know I have been guilty of this, but I have gotten better, I now say "God has who He wants here". That helps, but other times I'm still disappointed by a small turnout. My job in this season has been to continue to pray and hear from God for that, which He had given me to do.
"Prayer is our plumb line. It's also the true measure of a person. No one is greater than their prayer life. Our potential is directly proportional to our prayer life. It is the single greatest indicator of our success in any endeavor." This statement is insightfully accurate. I've read it over a couple of times. Then I paused and thought about the times when I allowed myself to get overwhelmed with life and I didn't seek the Lord as I ought to. I prayed, but I didn't seek the Lord, and wait to hear back from Him. It wasn't until I came to myself, made time for God even in the middle of taking a graduate course, when a 30 page paper was do... After I got up from my time with God, I accomplished more in the one day than I had all week long.
"If we humble ourselves in prayer. God will extend His mighty hand on our behalf. He will leverage us in ways that are humanly impossible." That is a truth to hold onto, but it is also one of the areas the enemy of our soul constantly works at. My desire is to live NCC's moto "stay hunble, stay hungry". My desire is to have more time to be in His presence, to hear from Him, to grow in Him and be used by God for His glory. When Mark was talking about the favor that NCC has received in their community, I automatically thought about the times RCC was honored in our community. I'll share a few things because some people may not know. We were given an outdoor service in Shorewood Park, free publicity, our name was on the Shorewood water bill and marque. We were honored by Marilio's last year with a nice size check. And this year we received the best church in Shorewood 2015 Award. It may seem small compared to NCC, but we at RCC are not going to ...despice these small beginnings" We are going to become a House of Prayer, and watch God do greater works as He opens up doors of opportunity for RCC regionally, where He has planted us.
Departing Thought: Our prayers have the potential to write and rewrite history
