Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
This chapter challenges us to pray without ceasing. We are being challenged to be aware that God is present with us always. The challenge involves looking inward and outward. Frank Laubach learned from Brother Lawrence, a seventeenth century monk, that we shower every person we come in contact with, with silent prayer. What a simple, but profound way to put 1 Timothy 2:1 into practice. . .that petitions, prayers, and intercession be made for all people. If you are a child of God, you are a priest. It is not just your right, but your responsibility to pronounce blessing on people. Just think, if we are blessing everyone, bad attitudes, sad thoughts, anger and ungratefulness have no space in our hearts.
We can increase our intimacy with God by having a prayer rhythm. This chapter provides a variety of strategies to create a prayer rhythm in your life. Mark Batterson noted that if you want God to do something new in your life, perhaps it is now time to do something different. Do something different and you will probably see a difference.
Change of pace + Change of place = Change of perspective
