He [Abraham] did not know where he was going. Hebrews 11:8
This chapter is sharing about being obedient to the amount of revelation God has given you. "By faith Abraham when called to GO to a place he would later receive as his inheritance OBEYED and WENT even though HE DID NOT KNOW where he was going." Hebrews 11:8 [The capital letters are from me, and are there for emphasis], The Father of Faith, Abraham, heard God, no one heard God for him, packed up and began his journey of faith, trusting God, despite all the naysayers, "haters." and discouragers. After all, no one had been "there," "done that," or ever ventured forth directed by God. WOW! What courage, what determination, what fear and apprehension had to be silenced for him to go forth on the journey he knew God had called him to make. Remember, too, Abraham did not make this journey by himself. Others traveled with him, but God was leading him, and the others were traveling with him.
The sequence of faith is quite different from the human way of thinking. With God it is Go. Set. Ready. I am still letting this sink in for me. Wow! How often have I missed the mark because I have been conditioned to operate in the lack of faith sequence. Our failure to do what we know God is calling us to do is quite simply disobedience. Hesitation or not going forth, breed doubt and discouragement. It smothers faith, chokes courage, and beats down boldness.
WHY NOT? This life approach compels and propels us to act. Fear is smothered in the WHY NOT? approach to life. If we let fear get the upper hand. and we are so afraid of doing the wrong thing, we will over-think or abandon doing the right thing.
I thank God for this 40 Day Prayer Challenge. Some of the goals include getting the real gold. We are increasing in our intimacy with Him. We are learning to hear the still small voice. We are taking time where the focus is on His Kingdom goals. We are believing again. We are drawing broad and wide circles where the focus and center is not on self. We are growing in faith, and allowing God to re-kindle the flames of faith. We are dreaming again. We are listening to the promptings of Holy Spirit and acting on them. We are keeping divine appointments. We are loving God like never before.
If you are looking for excuses, you will always find one.
